Stress in the fast lane…
Well, it seems that stress is really hitting many of us and hitting us hard… and fast and it hurts.
So what are we to do?
Give up…Quit….. Jump off a bridge….? What is the answer?
I know that there are many ways to make you feel better and many ways to make you feel worse.
Focusing on what is wrong will not make it all better… it will just make it feel much, much worse.
Distraction can be a key to help you through a rough spot. When I used to do Stop Smoking Hypnosis, that was one of the keys we used…distraction. And it had to be planned in advance. So, if you knew you were going to get a craving you already had something to do at that moment to help you through the tough spot. Trying to figure out what to do in the hard moment is a bad idea. Your brain can only focus on ohhh, this is tough. So if it is pre-planned to take a walk, take 10 deep breaths, chew gum, ride your bike around the block…. well then it is much easier. You just pick which distraction you want in that moment.
So if you want to feel better now, write down 3 great distractions that you can do anytime…water, deep breaths, skipping…doesn’t matter what, just write them down and then be prepared to do one or more of them when the demons come calling.

The most important thing is to take action…do something to help yourself feel better. Action cures a lot of ills. Some things cannot be changed, but taking no action is a sure way to get no better, and to feel worse on top of things.
So make your distraction list. What will it be for you…water, breathing, walking, riding, ice cream? Just do something!
